Name: -Caryota zebrina {Id Code}

     Species: -zebrina {Price.}

   Description: -Very attractive caryota species, loving shade this species does not hold a lot of leaves 4 to 5 only..but does seem to hold more in cultivation than in habitat, the leaves on this species are quit thick and are a little more rounded compared to most of the other Caryota species, Caryota zebrina has a lovely pattern running up the petiole which this species was named after.Ths is a very attractive species that should have a place in every collection or garden. I have found that this palm needs little attention once established and seems to be quite drought tolerant, although it's not a fast growing species. A stunning palm for any garden likes a well mulched garden bed and should be planted in a prominent area to appreciate the true beauty of this palm .
   Growing Climate: -Will handle the cold coming from 1500m altitude from Irian Jaya and Papua New Guinea Grows best in a shaded position in a frost free area and seems to handle most soil types but does best in well drained rich soils, watered 2 or 3 times a week, with a nice thick mulch to help hold the moisture in the ground, and fertilizer once a year in the warmer months. . [Temps 40 C to -1.C]
