2012 THE YEAR OF THE FARMER This is the Year of the Farmer and you may not know that I am passionate about supporting the Australian farmer and protecting the land on which they farms. In a few generations time, when we are competing with other countries for food grown in what little land left that hasn't been raped by mining industries, our great grandchildren will be asking why we did we let this happen. So before you pick up fruit, meat, vegetables and food in general, find out if it comes from Australia and if it doesn't put it back. Spent your money on sustainable produce for the cheapest is supporting a supermarket price war is putting farmers out of business because it is driving down the price that the farmer gets. If it continues then, in the next drought, the chances are that we buy could well be buying from China. So if you want to ensure that our supply of fresh produce from Queensland farmers continues I beg you to ignore the house brands and buy a branded product and local produce. Remember this is the year of the Australian farmer, not a farmer in some other country in the world. |
